UNICEF, which stands for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, is a United Nations agency established in 1946. Its original purpose was to provide emergency aid to children affected by World War II, but over the years, it has evolved into a leading global organization focused on promoting the rights and well-being of children worldwide.
UNICEF has created what's known as "Rights of the Child", which is essentially 42 articles talking about the rights children have.
Violence against children is addressed in Article 19. Although it emphasizes that State Parties must have appropriate laws in place to outlaw violence, it also mandates that States put administrative, social, and educational safeguards in place to protect children. Article 19 prohibits all forms of violence, including mental and physical assault.
